Welcome to my favorite room in my newly remodeled home…my home studio. The light from the windows, the vaulted tongue and groove ceiling, and the hand picked inspiration pieces come together to make this an inviting creative space for me day after day.
My work space.
This one car attached garage became a sports equipment slash junk yard for our family when we built a detached 2 car garage in our backyard a couple years back. I knew the space had potential and am so pleased with how it turned out. We raised the floor up to the level of the rest of our home continuing the wood floor throughout, and added 2 new windows across the west wall.
This pop out bay window was added in place of the old garage door.
This custom made barn door slider covers the laundry room, which is part of the new space. I love having my laundry room on the main level and so close to my work space.
This Ikea bookcase was a perfect fit to display the fabric that I have designed plus quilts others have made for me. I save a yard of each fabric I design. It is fun to have it on display and serves as inspiration for future projects.
My latest fabric line So Happy Together.
My Studio gives me the space to display all of the little inspiration pieces I love collecting. Here you see a little sampling of some of my collections: the letter D, key chains from my childhood collection, a few matroyshka dolls…oh and a collection of papers and such that I don’t want to put away!
A place to pin up inspiration.
A canvas collage using some of my paper designs. “GIVE THEM ROOTS AND WINGS” is one of my favorite mantras that runs through my head about parenting.
I love “things that hold other things”, like drawers and cupboards. Doesn’t everyone? Here is an old CD holder that is used as a shelf and holder of all things random…usually tickets to the next concert I am attending (which happens to be Sara Bareilles and One Republic and I really can’t wait).
I heart drawers…especially cool one’s from the Sundance store.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed your little tour of my inspiration spot.
