Deena’s Blog:Christmas Card Edition

Well, usually I don’t talk about too much personal stuff on here, but I thought it would be a good way to contact friends and family who actually want to see what we have been up to.  So, this year on the back of our Christmas card I referred them here, so hang on…because here goes the boasting & bragging!

JARED’s year consisted of managing his growing lab and getting his biotech company off of the ground.  This made for lots of San Francisco trips…and anxiety.  He’s looking forward to his relaxing golf trip to Scotland in the early summer to play the Old Courses at St. Andrews.

Jared’s down time this year was spent on the slopes teaching the boys to ski, and when there was no more snow it was baseball and golf with the boys.

DEENA has been spending a lot of time with another man this year.  His name is MAC.  He has a 21" screen, and amazing organizational skills.  We could tell you more, but it might get a little graphic. (Mom, you know I am talking about my computer, right?)  Most of the work Deena did this year was for pclayers as one of their designers.  She also designed a few collections for a scrapbook company which will be out in the Spring.  She has a few things coming out in 2008 with Cricut and Cuttlebug.  Summer days were spent outside with her guitar and diet coke watching the kids play.

This fall, she became a bit of a health nut, but it doesn’t stand in the way of her 44 oz diet coke. (Everybody needs a vice, right?)

SAM is 10 and in the 5th grade.  Right now, it is all about hockey.  He is on the Salt Lake County Select hockey team as well as the house team.  He is a fast skater as well as an awesome defenseman.  He actually won "fastest skater" for his age group at his last tournament.

He still has the music in him, composing songs and taking piano lessons.  He has won the "Reflections" contest at school every year since Kindergarten.  Keep watching at the credits at the end of your movies.  One day it might say: Score composed by NHL superstar, Sam Rutter.

JACK is playing hockey, too.  He loves being goalie and even has his little signature superstitious moves, like every good goalie should.  Jack loves projects and party planning.  He planned his own birthday party, Kate’s party and he even planned a birthday party for our dog, Emmie.  This consisted of invitations and doggy bags with take home treats.  Eight neighborhood dogs attended.  He started two clubs and manages Sam and Will’s band, the Red Raccoons.  Contact Jack to book the gig or plan your next gathering.

Jack turns away many a girl who want his love returned.  Quoting the latest love note:
Dear Jack, I thought you liked me like a "LIKE-like"?  And Jack wrote back: I don’t like you like a "LIKE-like", I just like you like a "like".

WILL is 6-1/2 and has grown up so much this year.  He is in 1st grade and loves reading now.  He plays hockey and has scored some great goals this year.  He loves watching shows, dressing up like black Spiderman, and has taken it upon himself to teach our dog, Emmie, some new tricks lately.

Will is learning to play the electric guitar.  He is a total head-banger.  When he needs some "alone time" in his room, he ends up cranking the amp and making lots of noise.

KATE turned two just before Halloween this year.  She had a great costume party and is still talking about it.  Kate loves letters!  She already knows her letters and their sounds.  She knows more sign language than the whole family.  She likes to wear high heels and dresses, but can unleash her wrath on her brothers when necessary.  Kate loves helping Deena with everything.  She makes a mean peanut butter sandwich, cleans the toilets, sorts the laundry (she knows the owner of every article of clothing), and she even helped decorate the kitchen with sharpie marker all over the cabinets.

Journey - KaTia”lh,nk You, Mask Man” is the animated short directed by John Magnuson in 1971, made to Lenny Bruce’s classic Lone Ranger and Tonto bit. It’s 8 minutes long, drawn in a crude but direct style and once played the U.S. college film festival circuit on a regular basis.ReplyCancel
