{inter} National Scrapbook Day 2012 – Blog Hop Freebie

Insd2
This weekend is {inter} National Scrapbook Day, and to help you with your digital stash the Design House Digital designers are giving away this amazing collaboration kit, called Retrospect:

Now for a quick tip:

MAKING A PATTERN BRUSH IN ILLUSTRATOR

Just for stopping by, I would like to share one of my most used tools in Illustrator…making dotted and scalloped shapes!  I am a “self-taught-project-by-project-Illustrator user”, so when Carina Gardner shared this quick tip, I decided I had to pay it forward!  I did some crazy time consuming work to get a dotted or scalloped shape for many years, I can’t let you do it too!

Picture 38First make a circle and keep it selected.

Picture 42
Make a new brush by selecting the “new brush” button, and selecting “new pattern brush”. Click OK.

Picture 46

The pattern brush options will come up. Change your scale to what you would like.  I set this brush to scale – 25%, spacing – 100%. Click ok.

Picture 47

Your brush will appear in the brush pallette. Draw a circle without a fill.

Picture 49

With the new circle selected, click on the new circle brush in the brush palette.

(You can change the spacing and size by double-clicking it in the brush palette, and even see a

preview if the preview box is checked.)

Picture 50

I also made a half circle and did the same steps as before to make a scallop brush.

Picture 51

I wanted my scallops closer together, so my spacing came down to 15%.

Picture 52

Make another non-filled circle and keep it selected.

Picture 53

Select your half circle brush for a scallop edge.

Picture 54

I made another circle and changed the size and spacing for the look I was going for.

Picture 55

This is how my decorative circle turned out.  I hope this helps you in your creativity.  The possibilities are pretty endless with this little tip!  I know it makes my work so much more fun!

Two questions, one specific to this post, one more general:First, if neocameralism is an unstable equilibrium, how do you propose to sustain such a state, given that you’ve managed to bring it into being?Second, what do you think of the Baroque Cycle? http://www.realpussiness.com/ - 73 – I think you’ll find that very few fans on this site are completely satisfied with how the Lakers are playing right now. The ones who are optimistic know that we’re only in mid-December and the Lakers are 18-3 without having played a single, complete game. It helps that PJ’s teams have historically peaked late in the season – I’m completely confident that the Laker team we’re seeing now will not be the same that we see come playoffs.ReplyCancel

Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.ReplyCancel

http://www./ - SO what you’re saying is, someone liked your free ebook enough to send it to a friend rather than download it for free from that website?Dude that makes no sense. Free is free, doesn’t matter whether they get it from the friend of the download site unless you get some sort of advertising share? – Is that the case?If the ebook was paid for by user1, then yeah fair enough, but I don’t see the point in complaining if it’s free anyway.ReplyCancel

http://www./ - Of course, to Mr Davis and his cronies, the idea of not spending money on the EU and getting rid of qangos is almost a bigger crime than saying you don’t support gay rights.Or in Mr Davis’s case “Leather S&M Biker Boy In Chains” Rights.Yes, I have seen Mr Davis outside work. And no, it wasn’t a club, it was Tower Records!   0 likesReplyCancel

http://www./ - These are so awesome! The only issue I ran into was that the template was a little smaller than I expected making it impossible to fit a gift card through the narrow top portion of the bag. But I'm simply just going to enlarge the template by a few mms and make tons because they're really very cool! I'll post pictures soon! Thanks for the tips!!ReplyCancel

http://www./ - Hi! Me again…just so you know, your badge is not linked to your blog. Don't know why cause I'm not a geek, but it takes me to someone else's blog – something like naptown or something like that. It had "nap" in the title and the pic was DEFINITELY not you.ReplyCancel

http://www./ - Marilyn, I love the way you have highlighted just how hard it is to change a habit and how habits influence our whole lives. So many people think mistakenly it is all about willpower.Living in the moment seems to be the antidote for so much and also the key to really living our lives.Thank you for this wonderful reminderReplyCancel
